I have the same waterlift. Those things melt FAST with no cooling water flow. If mine melts I have a better one in the shed to replace it.

As regards meltling mufflers
...been there...done that. Hose came off the exhaust water input years ago reducing plastic muffler to a blob rather quick. Hose clamps are checked more frequently now.
We sail today so you won't hear from me for a while...well watch the newspapers....who knows. Thanks again to all.
