    Mechanic near Kent Island, MD?

My son has an A4 in his Catalina 27. I've maintained it for several years, fixed a few minor fuel and electrical problems and it's run fine. Two years ago the A4 was submerged up to the bottom of the starter over the winter. It was not recommissioned last year due to other priorities. The starter behaves like the solenoid contacts are fouled or the starter itself is bad. Not surprising after partial immersion.

I checked the wiring and made some mods to assure there is very little voltage drop. I believe the next step is to remove the starter assembly and have it rebuilt. Unfortunately my son and I are not physically able to do that and at this stage I'd like to find a good mechanic in the area that could work on the boat to get the starter fixed and the A4 running again. Of course, it may have other problems too. The boat is located on Kent Island, Maryland.

Can anyone recommend or even just point to a mechanic that would works on the A4?
    TIA

I live on Kent Island. Vosbury's is the local A4 shop for this area, but you don't really need to spend that much money to get a starter fixed. Where is the boat right now?
I have a spare starter - we might be able to arrange something.

On the island also. Where is Vosburys? Just to my block to D&W in Sudlersville for valve seat inserts. My little block could fit in the oil pans of most of the engines in their shop.

        Joe,
The boat is at Castle Marina. I'm retired and free a lot of the time. Of course any help would be appreciated, but I really don't mind calling Vosbury.

                Same marina I am in!
I am sure we can do a starter swap easy enough if that is the only issue. On my boat it is maybe 15 minutes work. Two big bolts and two wires
Vosbury's is over at the David Taylor complex now across from the Academy:
Large extensive Volvo Penta diesel inventory of new and used parts. Auxiliary diesel, saildrive, inboard gears. 3 and 4 liter engines. Also extensive parts for the Universal Atomic Four engines.

They have worked on A4s for decades, so between them and Moyer our area is A4 heaven
As a general rule, marine mechanics unfamiliar with A4s are likely to do more harm then good or just take one look and try and sell you a diesel
