Compresor Location?
Just picked up a Nova Kool Condensing Unit and Cold Plate. I was so happy with the deal , I picked it up without hesitation!
In hind sight , I am concerned with both potential locations for the compressor. Engine room or under a seatee. If something were to go wrong , either location could collect fumes , in theroy. In all my research , I couldnt find a single supplier that make a "explsion proof" system. Any thoughts? I dont think I am the only A-4 owner with a hankering for a cool one

I have the same refrigeration package and love it, ice cold beer at the ready.
Is there any problem installing it on a shelf behind the galley in the stbd sail bin? I have friends with a Hunter 31 with nearly the identical layout and that's where theirs is.

Neil.....if I understand your proposal, the shelf placement is a shared area with the fuel tank and motor. Is this common practice?
Jim.....when it comes to the wine, I only know to follow the strict instructions that I'm giving' , and never stray from them. Certain things aren't to be messed with

I'm unfamiliar with the nuances of your boat, its construction and equipment placement. What little I know I found on a C&C 29 website.
However, if you keep your compressor mounted high in the compartment and the area is well ventilated there should be no issue. Mine is that way (fuel tank in the same compartment but not the engine). This is one of the charms of the Xintrex fume detection system with blower relay. Mounting the compressor high and the fume sensor low, the system automatically activates the blower long before there's a problem (potential compressor ignition) and most importantly, even if you're not there. It's one more tier of safety.

My C&C 30 has a shelf aft of the port lazarette which appears to be factory made and on which the PO installed the refrig compressor. It seems to be an ideal location as it's out of the way, not likely to get damaged. Airflow is OK, not great.
