    Is Anybody Out There....

Hello all ,, I asked Bill the Administrator to start this Sub Group, to see if there are any Grampian Owners out there that also Haunt this site. I thought it would be cool to have our own sub group to discuss off topic issues particular to Grampians.

SO..... if there is anybody out there who is a Grampian Owner, I would love to chat more with any and all.

In particular motor mounts. If anyone uses the adjustable types?

With Powerboats, it's about the destination. With Sailboats, you are already there.

Jeff, I tried this via the Ericson grp and got almost nothing. I did have a couple of contacts but they were from outside the forum and not much from members at all. But mention our lil beasties and you get all kinds of responces.
I have gone to the Ericson site and it is a bit active however not nearly as much so as I thought it would be.

    Good luck with it.

Thanks Dave,, I am seeing what you mean,, I looked though a lot of the discussions on the "GROUPS" section,, and I agree,, Our Beasties are definitely what anyone is here for.

I just thought it would be cool if there were some Grampian owners , who have pulled their A-4 and then used the Motor mount kits sold here. Mine are just generic Flange Iron with washers, and the embedded Bolts in the Fiberglass. Your Ericson Group was one of the first I read though.

        Grampian 26

        Hi
I Have a Grampian 26 but have not pulled the A-4 out of it yet.
I am learning a lot about this engine as we traveled south and are now heading north back to the Chesapeake
This summer when I finally get home from our trip to Florida I would like to pull it and go through it when I get time.

              Thanks

I appreciate the warm welcome to the community!

We made it as far as Myrtle beach area but have learned we have a bad head and are taking water in the oil.

I called the tech line and did the manifold check and it pulled a vacuum. Then I changed the oil multiple times to clean it out.
The engine started with no problem until I open the water valve slowly it ran OK until I opened it fully it then it started to run rough and the oil became full of water.
I shut the engine off and changed the oil a few times to clean it up again. When I pulled the plugs three and four had some water. It took multiple tries with a couple clunks but it started again with the valve closed so the fresh oil is throughout the engine.

We hope to make it as far as we can with our outboard motor, hopefully to the Chesapeake so we can sail her home.

              All the best

Paul, Good luck...Maybe Hanley in his Herreshoff 30 "Destiny" will pick you up on his way by ..He just left Florida on his way to Martha's Vineyard. I think he expects to pop out of Norfolk & be in the Chesapeake in early April if I remember my dates right.

We've had quite a few others throw on an outboard as a temporary fix until they had time to repair the A-4 properly.

We met Hanley on the way down and had the pleasure of sailing and rafting up with him, his knowledge and help was priceless.

At the rate we are traveling he may just pass us! lol

Yes, Grampian owners are out here. We sail a Grampian 30 Std every weekend, and race it every other weekend... Has an extremely reliable atomic 4 powering it!
