Hate it when that happens. Many (MANY) years ago I did my first engine job - valves in a Triumph TR-3. Finished the job and it cranked, but no spark. Finally found that one wire into the distributor with a spade lug was on the wrong side of an insulating washer. It don't take much to kill an engine!
