Calling all Pearson 35 owners...

From one of our Forum members:

Quote:
Our Atomic 4 is in a 1969 Pearson 35, and I'd like to know if any of the other regulars on this site also have a Pearson 35. Maybe other owners of other boats would like to know who shares their hull designs. Could you fashion a question to the forum that would elicit this information? Thanks!
Done!

Bill

That would be me that's quoted above. I'm looking to see how other forum member Pearson 35 owners deal with engine, drive train, propeller, etc. issues. Thanks, Bill!

Mark,
We have a 1976 Pearson 35 #322 with an Atomic 4. Purchased it in Dec of 2008 and been working on the refit since. Currently she is moored in Anacortes WA. What questions do you have?

Jeff

Pearson 35

I have completely rebuilt the A-4 using the manual and parts from Moyer Marine. Very simple engine & easy to work on. Hard part is getting it out and back in to the boat.

I've got a Pearson Alberg 35.
Cut away full keel with attached rudder and a prop in the aperature.
Indigo prop currently doing service, but I want to go back to a two blade prop for less drag.

Engine access is great.

Thanks for responding, fellas.

I've been working with reversing gear issues (see "Forward adjusting collar" thread) and have now gotten to the point where there is no slippage of the forward clutches. However, with the 2 blade prop I think the boat is woefully underpowered. I can cruise at about 6 knots but the engine is turning at only 1500 rpm and increasing the throttle only results in burning more gas, not in increasing engine or boat speed. I've been interested in what people have to say about the Indigo prop, about how it increases rpm's and gets the A4 more into its power band. All the information I've gotten so far has been from Indigo owners whose props run in open water, not in apertures.

What do all you guys do?

Thanks!

Mark
