Neil - how did you do that? I looked at attaching a short flexible grease gun hose off the rear port to a small tee-based manifold, but never got comfortable with the configuration, or if I needed to bleed air...

IMHO the air bleed issue is a non-issue for pressure sensors. Trapped air would be at same pressure as the oil
An oil temperature sensor, OTOH, would not work well at a remote dead-end. |

hose?
Hey Jerry - thanks for the pics. What type of hose is that exactly, and would it work over a longer run? Or would accumulated heat make it soften and give a false low reading to an oil pressure gauge?

I am currently in the process of re-doing my engine's wiring which had become compromised and confusing over the years. When I got to the oil pressure outputs I realised that I was going to have four things hanging off of of that 1/8" nipple so I have decided to go the route that Jerry and others have taken and create a manifold. The senders are: cockpit gauge, OPSS, Cole-Hersee alarm and an engine compartment mounted mechanical gauge. Probably the most important thing here is to use an "oil rated" type of hose as Jerry pointed out.

Here's a picture of mine. The hose is 300 psi, fuel and oil rated from NAPA, several braid layers. I put a 1/8" pipe to [size of hose] barb in the block. Critical in this arrangement is a ground wire for the remote oil manifold.
Concur with Joe, this is not suitable for an oil temp sensor.

oil pressure
Yesterday I got back to the boat to adjust oil pressure now that the meter is directly on the block. Changed the oil (10w-30).
Tightened the adjusting screw 1/2 turn in. Now the pressure spikes for a moment at about 70 lbs at start, then drops quickly to 50 lbs. After warm-up (20 minutes) to 160 degrees, settled at 45 lbs at 2000 RPM. Hope to test in gear today - need to see her motoring at 180 degrees for 45 minutes to be fully warmed up. That all sounding okay so far? not too high? Thanks.

Not bad.
My engine drops to 40 quicker than 20 minutes, but that may be my Indigo thermostat with very fast warmup. My last engine was backwards - cold was low oil pressure and hot was high. it would start at 20 PSI and wander up to 40 when warm Quote:
