Fresh water cooling install

My replacement A4 came with bits for a fresh water cooling system.. it was previously installed in another boat before that owner decided to go with an electric conversion.

It doesn't look like it came as a kit and I don't have any documentation or reference.

Some of this is pretty obvious as far as where things go.. but I'd love to get some suggestions before I make a mess of it.

The type of heat exchanger you have is hung horizontally. It looks like it has markings for how the hoses hook up. If not my suggestion is to pour some water in the cap and see were it exits. That will be your antifreeze connection. Typical is to use the original pump for antifreeze and the pedestal pump you have for raw water. Your picture marking A will come from heat exchanger into pump. And the other marking. I think it was B. Will be your out to exchanger.

For the raw water side. I forget what direction it will turn but that will determine what side is in and out. My pump is mounted off of the flywheel end.

The inlet/outlet on the exchanger isn't import, right?

I don't see any markings and can't find the model online.

The A4 replacement is plumbed as original pump for antifreeze and aux belt for raw pump.

I don't really want to deal with an aux belt and bracket. So I'm thinking I'll go with electric.

Heat exchangers work best in a counterflow configuration where the two liquids flow in opposite directions. This maximizes the temperature difference between the hot and cold and thus maximizes the heat transfer.
