You can't get rid of us that easy
It's been six years!
http://www.moyermarineforum.com/foru...ead.php?t=6894 Well, like a bad penny, we'll be back in D.C. in December 10th-ish. We are shmoozing at a meeting all that week, then renting a car on the 15th and headed off to drift around for eight days and wash up in Raleigh N.C. It'd be fun to catch up with any old acquaintances or dock sailors for a libation and chat. Or, any recommendations for things to do/places to see are welcome. Russ

We're about to leave on our second trip south for the winter, but plan to fly home for the month of December for Christmas with the family, so we should be able to make a meetup. It'll be good to see you and Sue again!
Keep us posted!

I'll second or third the thumbs down on Natty Bo beer. Water makes more sense.
Would love to meet Russ and other A4ians. Not sure if I'll be able to get there from NYC.

Which Ram's Head, there are 6 or 7 of them?
I'm game for a meet up if you decide to put one together! I'm midway between Baltimore and Annapolis.

True, there are many Ram's Head locations, but THE Ram's Head is the original one in Annapolis!

It seems I may not have a second career as a travel agent.
In the interest of full disclosure re the pushback on Natty Boh, I confess that I drink wine out of a box (which becomes just a bag on the boat). I do love Natty Boh, but I'm not sure it would do well in a blind taste test. You see Natty Boh apparel (shirts, hats, etc.) all over the place here on the Eastern Shore, and I read somewhere that 90% of it is consumed in Baltimore. I suspect there are other beers which are locally loved, but despised elsewhere. Like some of those from PA? Bill |

We made reservations for a B&B out on Chincoteague for the 15th–16th, but I see a few nice looking places in The Solomons. Our itinerary is flexible. It would be fun to see Shawn's boat.
I should assume the weather will be cool, so a Pub will probably be the likely venue to "raft up". Neil, you should have just opened those beers at least. A puzzle under the cap of each one! Now that's value! https://www.thrillist.com/drink/wash...-washington-dc

Russ, you will love Chincoteague. Oysters and some of the best clams you ever ate.
Just pray it doesn't snow. Years ago, we woke up to a 9" snowfall as we were preparing to head back home. I think we spent an extra four days there. There wasn't a snowplow in the whole county. Bill ps: Don't feed the ponies. |

🛬🍻
It's getting close to d-day.
For anyone who gives a hoot, here's our loose itinerary updated:
I'll post my cell# on this thread for those days and then remove it so it's not up for creepers and spammers. Russ

I hope we can connect while you're in town.
We're currently in Florida with the boat, but catching a flight home today. We'll be around 'til Dec 28, with the exception of the 14-16, when we'll be in W. Virginia ( that's a state ) visiting friends.

We good. I never felt it at home 350 miles away from epicenter. In-laws closer to quake had a mess of stuff knocked over to clean up.
Lots of fun stories and web memes are popping up. Best one so far is at: https://www.alaskapublic.org/2018/12...-of-anchorage/ There were "runs" at gas stations and liquor stores, but reports are that everyone was civil and helpful in the situation. R

Russ, your itinerary may actually be not near us because of the water. By land, we are 65 miles southeast of D.C., but if you go via Virginia, we are not that way..and if you go via Route 50 to Chincoteague (via Bay Bridge in Annapolis), we are still 50 miles south on the Western side of the Chesapeake. We'd love to see you again if it works out!
Pic attached of the gmaps.

We can walk to a couple excellent eateries...just one of the many reasons we moved here in October...and I can ride my bicycle to the boat with my new "Island" rig.. We were doing race committee for Frostbites this day, however, yesterday I hauled 12 gallons of fuel to the boat with the trailer..

Shawn;
great pic! The sailboat just to the right of the wooden piling in the water looks like its an Alberg design from here (ie. beautiful).. but then I am biased |

Greg, give me a minute and I can pick them all out..this is our local fleet..no A-4's left in this group though.
Left to right: Henderson 30 (no jib, roached main) Custom 48 (this blue boat with white jib DID have a V-Drive A-4 20 some years ago.) J-70 J-105 (rolled jib) Solomons Entrance Marker lighted #3 Luders 44 Yawl with mizzen flying (Local Navy Sail Club folks use it for training) Catalina 27 That is about half the fleet..we have 14-18 boats usually for Frostbites...the others are blocked or out of frame.
