Coolant flow alarm

I don't see much here about coolant flow alarms. Aqualarm (aqualarm.net) makes a coolant flow detector that alarms when the flow rate drops below a set rate. They have a model with a minimum alarm rate of 1.5 GPM. It is adjustable to alarm above that rate if so desired. Its threaded fittings at each end allow for bushing down to 5/8" hose. To calibrate for a particular boat, the idea is to turn the engine on to idle, and then slide the adjusting sleeve up from the minimum setting until the alarm goes off, then slide the sleeve back a bit and set it. The wiring seems to be simple: ignition side of key switch to the buzzer and warning light, then from them ground wire to the flow detector, then ground wire to a ground bus.

The MMI pump performance data Don posted seems to show their pumps produce, at 800 RPM, 2.6 GPM when the pressure in the system is 0 PSI, 1.8 GPM at 8.7 PSI, and 0.6 GPM at 17.3 PSI. Their online catalogue notes that the FWC radiator kit is rated to 7 PSI, but that would only be the freshwater side.

1. Am I right in assuming that the pressure in the seawater side of an A4 is always less than 7 PSI in normal operation, meaning the flow rates would normally exceed 1.5 GPM?
2. Has anyone mounted a flow detector on an A4?

I like the idea of their system. I have been considering it for some time, especially the 5-system monitor at the same site. Sounds good to me

The kit arrived today, with plastic bushings down to the 5/8" hose. Got the deck painted finally as of yesterday. Hull is next week, then I can go to town reassembling the engine/hoses/wiring. Days are getting longer up here!
