Fred, Greg's comment is interesting. I am a scatterbrain..When I was a newbie on this forum, and I was trying to get a handle on the A4, I was all over the map.

I've learned that when these guys ask specific questions about a problem we are helping to troubleshoot, there is usually a reason. One tip I learned from other forum members that I now preach too...when you try to 'fix' too many things on the engine at once, it complicates the troubleshooting process when something goes wrong. For example, if someone thinks there is a spark problem, they might change the coil, points, condenser, spark plugs, wires, and a new battery. Then, they wonder why there is this new problem that surfaces AND yet the spark problem still exists. We then have to troubleshoot EACH of those items individually to help figure out what went wrong.

Anyway, I was getting in the weeds a bit, but it is common to want to throw parts at a problem, and sometimes you are wasting time, and money.

Oh, and another welcome! What kind of boat? What condition is the engine in? I see you are in Tampa, so you probably are not worrying/planning about winterizing like a lot of us are.

Yea, what they said.

I'll be in Ft. Meyers in two weeks. I'll wave from the car as we drive by.

Cheers,

Russ

Let me be the first to suggest, no...DEMAND that you install a fuel pressure gauge and purchase a Moyer A4 Manual.

That will save you a lot of grief from the group.

That said, it's still a good idea.

Hello World!

Well, I'm an sure glad I found this place. My wife just purchased me what she calls a "boat", I see it more of a "potential major maritime project". It's a 1974 Newport 27 (C & C hull) with what appears to be an Atomic 4 engine. I'll know more after I bring it back to my shop this coming Friday.

Wish me luck!

Sorry Fred, it appears I wasn't paying attention when I posted and highjacked your thread by accident.

Greg, funny thing is the pics are stored on Google Pics and show up on my browser. Are they not showing up for you?

Ram, No..they are not... Moyer allows us to store a LARGE amount of pictures on their server..the easiest way to do it is simply go to the "manage attachments" area below the reply box and upload them. (I use google photos too, but for this forum I directly upload to this site.) It is a bit of extra work, but 10 years from now, the pics will still be here and still show up if you upload them to the Moyer server and let them handle them.. - Like others I am sure, I am a member at numerous other forums for other interests (like Hondas) and it is annoying when linked pics fail a couple years down the road.
