early water pump question
I have an early Atomic 4 with the Sherwood waterpump.
I notice today that there is water dripping out fo the grease cap. iIjust repacked it so thinkingI did not get a good seat I tightened it down a few threads and it stopped for a short while than started again. Than I relaized for water to be coming from the grease cap the outseal has gone bad. What worries me is if impeller side seal is bad than waht about the front seal next to the block as it could be leaking into the oil. For water to be comining from the grease cap am I right is thinking this is a seal problem? If so I will be getting a new pump not into rebuilding. The MMI pump looks like it will fit but it is not listed as a replacement for the Sherwood pump...is the MMI shaft driven pump a direct replacement?
