Amp meter wiring
My amp meter was (and has been since I bought the boat) inoperative and I replaced it. While replacing it I noticed that the existing amp meter was not connected in accordance with the DC wiring diagram provided on this site. The entire system is exactly as depicted on the DC wiring diagram except that the Red 8 gauge wire that should run between the ignition switch "Batt" and large terminal on the solenoid is (and was) connected to the Amp Meter. When wired exactly as diagramed the amp meter is non responsive, when wired how the previous owner wired it the amp meter shows a discharge while cranking and then settles at zero and doesn't budge (regardless of electrical load or engine speed). Any thoughts, anyone?

My best guess is that the positive side of your ammeter is defective.
