Ultimate Exhaust System?
We just purchased a 1974 Catalina 30 (Hull #8) with an A4 with fresh water cooling.
The exhaust has a very small water leak which we knew about. When we made our offer on the boat it was with the provision that this leak either be repaired or pay us to get it fixed. Well it seems our local A4 guru, John Hess has recently retired. I'm wondering if anybody out there has specs/plans or just great ideas on how to refit our boat with the ultimate exhaust system? I have a crew of highly skilled metal workers, a mechanical engineer and several cnc mills and tables , as well as powder coating and anodizing equipment at my disposal. I have restored a number of autos in the past, but marine engines are completely foreign territory to me, as this is my first step up from my Hobie Cat. Thanks if you can help! |

Congratulations on purchasing a Catalina 30! They're beautiful boats, and we remember ours fondly.
I'm attaching a rather generic set of suggestions regarding replacement of an exhaust system, plus a second set of notes on the Catalina 30 exhaust system that you might find helpful. Don |
