Don't be like me!
Don't be like me... TRIPLE check that your fuel deck fill is closed properly, the o-ring is there and in good condition. Consider this a PSA

I had a bad o-ring on my fuel fill that caused similar issues.
I hope that dinghy gas tank down in the locker is something to do with draining fuel and is not actually stored there. Those things are not even remotely safe to keep in an enclosed space |

I recently went through the same issue, knew when the O ring broke and tried to jury rig a seal by applying teflon tape to the fill plate threads as rain was approaching on a Sunday night. Seemed like a good idea at the time, not so much a couple of days later.
My long term solution is to replace the older of two deck fill plates (I have two tanks) with a duplicate of the newer plate so the replacement O rings are exactly the same and I'm stocking only one size onboard.

Thanks for the PSA. I'll check mine next time.
Always nice to see how others spend a sunny day in the harbor with a significant other painting her toes and sipping a latte from Timmie's Kinda looks like you're making beer there.

it's just out of the way in there while doing this surgery. I take it back and forth with me to the boat. It gets tied down on deck while using it, for now until the main tank is dealt with.

I'll vote for the mead, is it raspberry?
It is surprising just how often these O-rings cause havoc! Dave Neptune |

They do on airplanes too. After a week sitting parked in the Bahamas with daily rainstorms, I got a *quart* of water out of each tank once
At least I have drains at low points on the plane, boats not so much..... |

For the forum "old-timers"...
Remember the good old days when we used to scour uploaded photos for the brand of beer showing up somewhere in the images before paying any particular attention to what the image was supposed to illustrate? I can name names, but you know who you are.... Bill Last edited by Administrator; 07-18-2019 at 07:20 AM. |

It's no accident that the sun is setting directly behind Jerry's bottle of bubbly. He's been around the block a few times.

Sunset? I was going to guess sunrise!
As I recall, Challenger's problem was blamed on a o-ring. I know the Navy is pretty fussy about it's o-rings - individually bagged with material identification, size, and cure date. |
