Spark thread hole core stuck to plug @&!*!
Hey Folks,
I ran into a slight problem this past fall when I was winterizing my A4 - When I was removing the spark plugs to squirt some MM Oil into the cylinders, the #3 plug froze to the threaded core in the spark plug hole. So this insert came out of the spark plug hole and was frozen to the plug. I am not sure if this threaded core (almost like a solid "helicoil") is part of the normal A4 Head, or it was a repair that someone who owned the boat prior to me made. My questions is: Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this part off the spark plug, and then properly secure this threaded insert back into the spark plug hole so it does not come out again. Thanks all in advance! -todd |

Todd,
This insert is part of an aftermarket kit sold to remediate defective threads in the head. You can try to remove it using a vise grip around the top part of the bushing and if you ruin the insert, you can take it (and the plug) in to any well equipped auto parts store and get a replacement. Don |
