    Dyer Glamour Girl

These inboard launches were made by Dyer and at least some were powered by an atomic 4. Mine was built in the 1950s of fiberglass. Anyone else in the forum have one of these?

How funny, my daughter and I were just talking about these as she just came back from a week as an assistant counselor at the sailing camp in Mystic Seaport, CT. There they use tubby little 9' Dyer Dhow dinghies. The camp has two Glamour Girls as chase boats (not that it is too hard to chase a Dhow). Very nice boats but I believe they are powered by outboards, not A4s.

AFAIK they were A4 powered when built. I have seen some with diesels and one with a 120 HP Mercruiser inboard being used for waterskiing. I suspect the outboards were added post-factory.

When I was growing up in western Long Island sound my future father-in- law had one of these and I thought it was great . I ran across one bout 10 years ago here on Puget Sound in derelict condition. I purchased it with the intent of rebuilding but have gotten bogged down. Maybe someday.
