Gauge connections to IGN post of ignition switch

While looking at Don's great drawing of the A4 electrical system:

http://www.moyermarine.com/forums/at...5&d=1112372128

I wondered what the most common way was that these connections were made. A ring terminal on the end of each gauge's wire? A common hot bus with a lead from the IGN post providing the power? A common ring terminal with one ring but multiple connections to it?

I used ring connectors on each gauge's lead, but after hooking up the tach, gas gauge, oil pressure, temp gauge, etc. it seemed a bit "piled on". Are there more tidy methods out there for hooking all these up?

Thanks!

I did exactly what you thought of. Actually, I use two buses. First one is near the key IGN under a cockpit locker and powers the gauges. A wire runs from this to a second bus in my engine compartment to power the coil, oil pressure switch, and engine hour meter. Works great and cleans it up a bunch. Should probably use 12 guage wire for the bus power wires. Before I did this, the IGN and coil terminals were stacked pretty high with ring terminals.
