Frost plug
So commissioning the engjne today and it's not chugging out any water 8n the exhaust. I poke my head inside the companionway to see the engine and it's gurgling up water from the rear of the head.
Looks like lost a frost plug. From the photos below, can j just by new one and pop it in? Never dealt with these before. I forgot to measure it. Looks like 1-1/4" to me on my late model head?

Greg, there are freeze plugs of many sizes and some are in graduations of 1/64" so be careful.
Ken would get you the right one for sure. If someone knows the exact size or it is indeed an 1 1/4" it should be available in a good parts house. Yes they can be driven in without to much trouble. Clean the hole but do no nick or remove much material as it is a press fit. Dave Neptune |

It is a 1¼" plug but it is a Welch style as opposed to a cup style. The cup style goes into a smooth bore hole whereas the Welch fits into a bore with a step. The plug bottoms out on the step.

Can one use the steel version? Boat launches Friday and to get them in from Moyer without paying almost $100 isn't in the cards.
I am hoping I can use the steel version then replace with the Moyer brass ones , once they get here. No one locally has the right size in brass

Sure, steel will get you by as a temporary measure.

Had a chat today with Ken from Moyer. Very supportive and had good suggestion. Use an expandable rubber plug to enable me to get from launch to new marina.
So I picked up one of the following from work today. It'll do until I get my Moyer order here!
