installing a new a new solenoid late model
Is there any trick to removing and installing a solenoid ?I find most things around the house or the boat are much easier the second time around.
in the parts bag from MMI are two new bolts and with them are two small copper sleeves , when i remove the old unit , will it be apparent were the two copper sleeves get installed ? any help on this would be appreciated ..

Been a LONG time since I've done this. Don't recall any difficulties. I recommend you remove the starter as opposed to doing it in place.
When you look at the old solenoid, the wear & arc points will be evident. First are the brass bolt heads inside solenoid body - usually restorable 1x by turning them 180 deg. Second is the washer on the moving part of the solenoid - restorable by simply turning it over. best.. Al ..currently in Truckee, CA |
