I am in the process of reassembling my A4 and have come to a crossroads involving the Yoke and the Cross Shaft.
During the disassembly and inspection, I noticed some wear on the Cross Shaft from what appears to be from the set screws. This also looks like a possible source of a problem related to the shifting arm and the over-all adjustment to the reversing gear.
When I reviewed an old Universal parts manual, I discovered there were keys preventing possible movement of the yoke on the shaft. The manual calls for a total of four of them. That said, there were no such keys when I took the Reversing Gear apart (PO removed them?). In addition, I find no such keys for sale on the Moyer Site or in the Overhaul Manual (perhaps I was too tired to see it).
Bottom line. While even the new Stainless Shaft shown in the online catalog shows cut-outs for keys for both the shifting lever and the Yoke, where are the keys and/or how do I get some if i truly need them. Is it as simple as heading for a machine shop or does Don stock them?
