Replacing gaskets on reversing gear and reduction gear housings
Hi, I have the engine off the old mounts and on the cabin floor while I install new isolation mounts. Meanwhile I wanted to patch up some oil leaks. I know i have one off the front of the reduction gear flange, between the flange and reversing gear housing.
Should there be multiple(3) gaskets between the reduction gear and reversing gear housing, or is one enough. Also I am not seeing oil drips from the back of the reduction gear so is it safe to assume that I don't need to replace rear main oil seal? Another question, now that the engine is on the cabin floor does it make sense to add oil and try to tilt the engine in hopes of catching the leak again? Thanks, Petar |

this may no thelp you immediately, but I owuld recommend getting Don Moyer's manual on the A4... it covers a rebuild, but more importantly, it lists gaskets and parts etc. thus as you go through the engine now or later you will have the information you need.
