Joe,
Brad made that sail right? ... He could easily change the luff tape if it's not the right size. When I blew out a furler a few years back, and bought a new one, he put new luff tape on all my foresails.

hello Mo,
that is for sure a sail at the Halifax shop. All Doyle sails for here are cut in Marblehead and then shipped here for final assembly. Triton 106, the dimensions are- Luff 33'9" with Vectran luff rope - Leach 30'6" - Foot 15'6" - 1.5 oz cloth, solid blue colour in talking to Brad at the loft it is felt that it would work on a Facnor Furler as said the sail is brand new, in fact once i sold the boat it was not finished. just sitting at the loft waiting for assembly. it of course be completed befor delivery. any questions please call 902 817 9464 (c) thanks joe Miller Halifax NS |

Thanks Joe for the dimensions. Unfortunately, the luff is a bit longer than the fractionally rigged Triton. Do you think that Doyle will be willing to recut the sail to suit the fractional Tritons?

would it work on a C-27??
Joe,
I am not a sailmaker, but your Doyle associate should be able to help here...A Catalina 27 standard rig has an "I" of 34'0", and a tall rig C-27 has an "I" of 36'0"...the little tiny bit I know about making sails, your sail may be bit large for a standard rig C-27, or maybe slightly small for a tall rig C-27...but the foot length is a little bit short for a slightly more modern rigged C-27 compared to the Tartan, making a good compromise for someone thinking about a cruising spinnaker that may otherwise be intimidated. Just trying to help broaden the horizons, and I know we have several C-27 owners on this site. It may prove useful on its own furler when anyone with similar dimensions is considering firing up the iron jenny when that heavy dacron genoa with a UV cover is starting to sag!!

Joe,
You could also advertise that on Kijiji Halifax, PEI, Toronto, Hamilton, Niagra on the Lake, Victoria and Vancouver....it would be sold in a heart beat. Mo

hello Shawn,
The problem with the UPS is the "j" measure. on the C27 it is 11.2, on the "t" 27 it is 9.8. dosn't sound like much but measures out about 100' sq less than "C" 27. thanks for the input, but i think the best fit would be a T 27. Mo, i think i may have to expand to larger Kijiji markets. anyone know a T27 looking for a good UPS let me know. joe |
