Alternator connection diagrams

Here are two diagrams I saved somewhere along the way, connections for our stock Motorola alternator and a 51 amp Mando

Motorola Alternator.jpg 51A Mando connections.jpg

for the Mando here's where they connect:

#14 light blue - ignition
#14 pink - alarm buzzer +
#14 gray - ?
#14 brown - tachometer
#10 red - output to either ammeter or starter post depending on your system

Neil - That Mando schematic is about as clear as mud. What is the "gray" wire? Is the brown wire actually the stator, the AC tap? If so it is violating stardard color coding (s/b white). Blue is usually for the field. Brown is usually for sensing. This diagram needs to be clarified. Please help us out.

I took it off another drawing (can't remember where now) and hated the color coding myself. I followed the wires on the schematic and typed where they connected. The gray didn't connect anywhere on the drawing.

I'll see if I can dig up the entire drawing. I think it might have been from a Catalina 34. I'll go lookin'

On another drawing I have the "L2" terminal is for an idiot light. This comes from the tech tips section at http://www.arcomarine.com

Okay, found it. It's a Catalina 36 drawing.
Sorry for the file size but hopefully you can zoom in at this resolution.

Thanks Neil. I see where you got it. There sure is a lot of confusion around about color coding of wires and also identification of terminals on alternators. If the yacht standard gnomes wanted something to work on, this would keep them busy.
