My guess is that you have water in your tank, and your water separator filter, if you have one, got so full of water that it just sent it downstream. That is why those filters have drains in the bottom of them, so you can see if water is coming from your tank, before it gets to be so much that it ends up in your carb and stops the engine. I installed a valve in the bottom of my filter bowl for that purpose. Just removing the water in the carb will not solve the problem.
I just use a small hand pump to change oil. It still leaves a half quart or so, but I change oil every 50 hours.
