      15w40 ... I like it.

I didn't see Rotella on the shelf on this side of the border (Canada) but the Walmart brand is supplied by Esso here (Mobil)...I had good results with it. Most oils we buy these days are good and I often wonder if we would see much difference between them given the limited amount of use on some of these engines.

I find mine runs quieter, and I didn't have to add between changes last year. The longest I ran the engine steady was 6 1/2 hours a couple of times and it didn't use any during that period. I change the oil every 20 to 25 hrs but I don't have a filter system on there.

For those of you that might have to motor for extended amounts of time to get home I'd really recommend it. I've been using it for about 5 years and all good!!

Since beginning to run the Rotella 15w-40 I have not had to add oil between changes at 100 hour intervals. I have the filter/cooler full flow system.

          hmmm. . .

I put 20w50 Autozone brand in mine thinking it would up the oil pressure. . .pressure now is same as with the 30w that came out, so I'm assuming it is gauge/sender related. . .

Motor runs fine, no new noises, and maybe less noise than before. That could be attributed to it just running better though and having been freshly aligned.

I have noticed in reverse, it doesn't seem to be grabbing like I remember. . .not sure if that's oil related or if I need to adjust the reverse band. . .

I will give the Rotella 15w40 next time I change it

                Speaking of oil...

Has anyone noticed the steady increase in price across the board for oil? Yesterday I paid $3.79/qt for straight 30w detergent (for the Gravely, not the A4).

Up from $10 to around $12 for oil in the past couple of years. Oil has weight so I imagine it cost's more to have the semis haul it to the end user...in the end we pay more. Here in Canada grocery prices are hiking almost every week. Trucking costs are the said reason although gouging is a big part of it.

Mo, How much oil is that for $10? I thought the price of oil was falling.

The price of "oil" for the consumer never falls as fast as it does for the oil companies. How would they continue to earn record profits if they ever passed on savings to the consumer.???.

One gallon of 15w-40 Rotella T is $13.32 today at my local Walmart. I can buy it in 5 gallon buckets too!

If I want to spend more money on an identical product I can turn one traffic light earlier and pay $17.99 at my local "Auto Boutique" (Autozone) as Hanley likes to call them.

About $12 / gallon of oil Hanley....I buy the jugs. Change my oil and the remained is the top up if I need it. Like you, I haven't had to use it between changes.

A week ago I paid $18.39 for a gallon of 15w40 at the NAPA here on the Vineyard. BTW, it's Neil who gets the blame/credit for starting the "auto boutique" name calling.

Hanley, I guess that's the price you pay for living in a remote outpost like the Vineyard.

Shawn, Yeah I just kicked my rate up to $65/hr: I've taken the hit for rising oil prices for 4 years now.
