Not a boat story, but decades ago my wife's cousin got new tires put on his car. Driving home downhill on a winding road the sidwall of his front outside tire exploded .... he ended up with it wrapped around a telephone pole - totalled the car and put his girlfriend in intensive care. Why? The shop left a wrench INSIDE the tire ... mounted, balanced and installed! It jammed and punched out the sidewall on that 1st curve. Mind you it was a TransAM ... I'm sure being driven sedately at the time!

Anyone looking . . . what I once found
In 1965, my Mother bought a new Corvair - it came with a rattle the dealer could not resolve - after a thorough search of the engine compartment, I found a clip-on visor mirror, 3 wrenches , and a screwdriver tucked down in the inner fender behind the battery holddown.
