I'm unfamiliar with the nuances of your boat, its construction and equipment placement. What little I know I found on a C&C 29 website.

However, if you keep your compressor mounted high in the compartment and the area is well ventilated there should be no issue. Mine is that way (fuel tank in the same compartment but not the engine).

This is one of the charms of the Xintrex fume detection system with blower relay. Mounting the compressor high and the fume sensor low, the system automatically activates the blower long before there's a problem (potential compressor ignition) and most importantly, even if you're not there. It's one more tier of safety.
