            OK here is my speech:

I follow a few forums on boats, golf carts, and antique tractors, which are my interests, and these forums are invaluable in gaining insight on how to keep my various toys running and reliable.

But I also learn other stuff about the quality of the people that post. In other forums it is not unusual to see nasty words creep in, or stupid arguments that won't go away, or a ..

to should be a too or a two
and your should be a you're
and there should be a their or a they're
or paragraphs without commas or periods
            etc, etc....

But not on this forum. By far and away the best how-to forum on the web. Not only are afourians kind, considerate, well spoken and well written, but also very knowledgeable and trustworthy.

Credit should be given to Don Moyer, who very early on set the tone of the forum, that has persisted, thankfully, to the present. He and other forum regulars have a noble goal - to keep as many of these antique auxiliary engines alive and well; to keep us safely on the water in our boats that are old, but not yet taking up space in a landfill.

Finally I would like to thank Bill our moderator for doing a fantastic job, Neil, Ed, Lat64, Joedb, tenders, Hanley, Mo and others sharing your wealth of knowledge. I take my election into the MVP club seriously.

A vertical list is best introduced by a complete grammatical sentence, followed by a colon.
But I also learn other stuff about the quality of the people that post. In other forums it is not unusual to see nasty words creep in, or stupid arguments that won't go away, as in these examples:

If the introduction and items form a complete grammatical sentence, items in a list would be separated by a comma.
to should be a too or a two,
and your should be a you're,
and there should be a their or a they're,
or paragraphs without commas or periods,
                etc, etc....

Short lists are better run in.

Thus negating the need for an ellipses(unicode 2026).

The real joke is how I spent an hour researching the Chicago Manual of Style just to make a silly post.

I think being an MVP for the A-4 is better than being an MVP in the Final Four.

                      Cheers,

                      Russ

I personally loathe the college sports scene. Anyone that thinks those 'student athletes' are playing sports and getting an education without compensation has their head in the sand.

edit - I did not not mean to turn the discussion in a negative way..that is just my opinion. Now, if you've managed to work the sports system well enough and decided it is OK to ping pong your brain inside your skull long enough to be a multi-millionaire, and retire early enough in life to enjoy those sacrifices, then I guess you got one over on us working stiffs. (BTW- I love NFL football, and I recognize that colleges are recruits. It is sad what we are learning about CTE and related issues, whether it is football/basketball/NASCAR/whatever.)

And, just for the record, I can't tell you how many 'under-the-powerlines' football games I played in my neighborhood, and I played rugby in high school. I have two dead teeth to prove it.

I agree with Russ. The life skills gathered from a forum like this are far more valuable to me than anything an athlete gains playing in the final of anything.

I love this forum. I would rather lurk around this forum than the finest forums on the web

But seriously, I can't imagine what we who love the the wonderful A4 would do without Don and Bill. I think the A4 would be well on its way to extinction if it weren't for them and what a colossal shame that would be!
