I'm not sure if your instructions came with this info, but mine had a small slip included that said to hand tighten the bolts and then run the engine for a minute to let the part settle into the...

Last question

I ordered the new one and the long bolt. Does anyone know the size of the bolts to attach it? I'm going to order a socket extender to get at the lower bolt.

Thanks again for all the help!

I'll try to take out the old one and buy the new one. I'm sure there's a thread around here somewhere about this, but can you tell me, is it just those two bolts to remove it, along with what looks...

Wow that's not the best news. The engine was winterized, but I was still worried about freezing because we had a few ridiculously cold days this winter.

When I feel back there, it feels like...

Thank you so much! That's beyond generous to offer your help. The photo doesn't show it, but the intake can be shut off. It's right at the base of the pipe that leads to the thru hull. If that's...

Dilute the Anti-freeze?

One big winterizing thread warns that you have to dilute the anti-freeze. (but it says auto anti-freeze). All the marine anti-freeze I see says "Ready to use -- do not dilute". Should I dilute it...

Winterizing - T-Valve, Bypass, and Procedure

Happy New Year!

I've read great posts about winterizing, and I think I'm ready to give it a go. I am new to owning an engine (got the boat in September and running in October) and still only...

Makes sense.

I know where the original leak was for sure. It's been fixed. It would be a terrible, but not impossible coincidence if a fuel tank or other leak occurred at the same time. I hope...

Yup. Ran the blower for half an hour last time I was there. I will check to see that it is working properly this weekend. Sounds good, but it may be clogged or something.

That's right. it's probably why even after airing things out, the smell still lingers in the bilge. I'm hoping the "De-oil it" will neutralize the gas fumes as it works on any residue left in the...

Thank you! I totally understand what you're saying and your story helped illustrate what could happen. I like the idea of opening everything up to dissipate things. Great insight.

Perfect!

That was perfect information. Thank you! When I had a mechanic look at it, he got it started but said it took him a long time to get fuel to the engine. I'm wondering if he didn't prime it and was...

He mentioned in the companionway. I've replaced the gasket in the fuel filter and checked the hoses. No more leaks. I don't smell gas in the companionway or in the cabin. I don't even smell it in...

Thanks so much for the info. It all seems to be adding up now. And I will definitely be very careful with the fumes. It's nice to know that people care so much.

When is it primed?

I tried looking for this answer, but I didn't really find anything definitive -- just bits and pieces. I am trying to get the A4 in my 1975 Sabre 28 to start and I don't really understand the hand...
