When I did it, (out of the water), I had to tap on the end of the shaft (prop end) to get it on. Unsure how that would work in the water, hopefully, if you have a new key, and can clean...

The new pump did indeed fit into the same holes, and worked (works) great.

Its saying unavailable now or later.

The parts have been removed, cleaned & painted, the new rear seal is installed & ready to reinstall (after I get a gasket, all the stuff I ordered, and I forgot the gasket!!).

Is it possible you have a pinhole in the fuel pump membrane (mechanical type pump).
I was getting small amounts of water in the oil that way, rebuild kit fixed it right up.
