I pressure tested the RWC system at 20psi for 30 min and droped to 16psi. Is that that is a concern? Maybe I'll do this test and see what happens over...

tenders makes a good point. I've always pulled the impeller out with the shaft still attached. If you have room to use the tool he suggests that may be a better plan of action.

If you are removing it and replacing it with a new one. That is to say, you are not worried about damaging it... just use a pair of needle nose pliers. Needle nose pliers are what I use every spring...

Thanks for the note. I paid $133 CAD for the pump and the gauge. I needed it quickly so no time to bargain hunt or wait for a shipment from the US. In time I'll replace it with the MMI pump.
