The Atomic is angled up on 10 degrees, giving room for cranking. If there is a bulkhead there, put a hole through it for a shaft to the modified spark plug socket.

I would want to know what the fuel looks like inside the float of the carb. There is a drain for the float. Look for anything other than gasoline.

Carbon is the killer of those valves. Go more aggressive on leaning the mixture. Up to 4 turns (like me) if it doesn't run worse. Add a carbon cleaner in the oil, and in the gas, and run the engine....
