Rick - I've taken a keel off a Newport 27 and several N28's. Bolts always looked good. The hull joint of the N27 was very strong. These are all saltwater boats.

This keel is from a 1971 Cal 33. Stainless bolts. There was adhesive between the keel and hull. Bilge was wet but the bolts passed the test of time - excellent condition.

It's what you can't see that's scary. this a a stainless bolt on a 1985 Catalina 30. There was no caulking or adhesive sealing the bolts.

The Coronado has a nice clean Atomic 4. previous owner said it was rebuilt. Hasn't been run in a while because the fuel tank is out. Turns over by hand. It's for sale in the Los Angeles, CA area.

Yes. That is the King Harbor boat hoist. Very inexpensive to haul a boat and set on a trailer. $40 verses $300+ at the boatyard.
