And more data...
The tank is about 9+ inches deep, but the tank was 3/4 full when the problems started, so this may not be the source of the soft shutdown problem. It might be that the fracture occurred where the...

More data...
The part shown above attaches to the bottom end of what looks like a generic Moeller fuel pick up tube, about 8" long, which seems to be in good working order.
The black tubing that broke does...

Replacement fuel tank pick up line source
My late model A4 quit four times yesterday after running about two hours, and would not restart after the fourth try. I suspect fuel starvation. Starting at the source in the fuel tank, I noticed...

Thanks, Al. You're right, it must be an oil pan flange and not the block. I feel better about that. If I can find a way to remove the bottom bolt of the old pump, I'll install the replacement and the...

The side plate rusted through a couple of years ago. Photo attached. I had to drill out almost all of the studs so I could get the new MMI plate and new studs in. I manually cleaned out the block and...

Engine block too corroded?
I'm in the process of trying to replace my leaky old Oberdorfer water pump on my late model, raw water cooled, A4. The aft portion of the block has been shedding LOTS of rust onto the bottom of the...

I could blow air, but could still be blocked?
Great thought, Neil. I was able to blow into the hose coming off the thermostat exit, but there could still be debris in there that restricts water flow. I ran a long screwdriver into the exhaust...
