Since EI, proper timing, and new carb - it always fires fast. A few seconds even if cold. In old days with none of above - I would have used an hour glass to measure time...

I witnessed Heinz's leak with my own eyes. Wasnt coming from a crack in head per se -- but water seemed to be seeping right out of stud at alternator bracket. Can't be sure.

Dont think you will know source of leak until you remove the heat shield wrapping - (then re-post picture for us). Generally hot section can be rebuilt from standard plumbing black pipe

prime the racor?
in my experience, a racor has to be "primed" when changed. otherwise there is an air vacuum and wont suck fuel. some posts elsewhere how to do that
