I was told i might have to change valve guides and i was wondering how it's done because i didn't see it mentioned in the part2 of the overhaul guide. May be it can only be done by a machine shop?

So i've been progressing with my first engine tear down. It was badly rusted do i had a few broken studs and bolts but i managed to open it.

so cutting a slot in the bolt ended up working...

so cutting a slot in the bolt ended up working the best. i used a small file and it cut through the top of the bolt fairly easily. Now i removed all the studs but in the process 3 of them broke...

Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately the stud broke flush with the end of the collet. Also it is not loose it is like a nut perfectly griping the thread of the stud.
