Thanks, Neil. The voltage at the coil at a fast idle (no tach) was 13.0v. I'll take a few more measurements at higher rpm as well.

I’d like your guidance on an issue I encountered yesterday. My engine (EI, electric fuel pump) has been running beautifully all season, including a good multi-hour run on Saturday. I headed out again...

Yes, it’s the top end that is stripped. I hadn’t thought about this also serving as a head stud (it’s obvious I know!), but that makes me reconsider my lazier approaches...

That's probably sage advice, as always. I'm already putting in an order for a bunch of stuff with Moyer this week related to the water jacket (stud repair kit, gasket), so what's another boat nickel?

Broken S terminal on starter solenoid

Hey folks,

I recently started the daunting task of removing my water jacket side place and had to remove the starter to get better access to the bolts. In taking the wiring off the solenoid I...

I had a look at the casting dates below the valve cover and it looks like both are oldies indeed- one is '57, the other '58!

A couple of years ago I picked up two spare engine blocks and a pile of assorted A4 parts to use for parts and practice. They've been sitting in my garage and every now and then I'll tinker with them...
