SO the worst part about that one shortcut was YES i had to remove the rudder AGAIN which is no fun in a Cal 29 with wheel...

There was no choice now but to cut the shaft log...

There was no choice now but to cut the shaft log hole much bigger as it was just in the wrong place :rolleyes: and i was to deep into the job to cut any corners

With solid bushings in the strut in place of the rubber cutlass bearing and the aliment tool sitting in the dummy...

Pretty much all of the secondary polyester ?...

Pretty much all of the secondary polyester ? resin work in the boat had marginal strength at best as i was able to pull most of the tape off by hand :eek:

The joy was short lived as there were many blisters inside the tube which may be the root cause of the original failure

Sterntube repair methods

During Seafevers refit the sterntube and shaft aliment with the strut was one of the bigger mechanical issues as it had been done very badly in 1970

When i bought the boat it was in the water...
