Improved Alternator Bracket

I was thinking about exactly this Hanley, last Sunday, anticipating having to hoist my engine back up over the rail sometime (hopefully soon). I've decided to sling it instead off the four mounting holes and avoid any potential problems. I can also avoid an oil spill by preferentially making the front (flywheel) sling shorter, but it's going to be nearly dry anyway....

For me an improved alternator mounting would be independent of the head nuts. Ditto, the thermostat housing.

This is my alternator bracket. Spreads the load over 5 studs. This is why I like the old style heads, and the new style thermostat housing is another problem I like to avoid: http://www.moyermarine.com/forums/pi...&pictureid=607
