WTB Atomic 4, anyone have one near North Carolina?

Looking for an Atomic 4 to buy near North Carolina. The one on the boat I purchased is dead due to the corrosion on everything.

Can you elaborate as to why rust on the engine makes it "dead"?

Is something corroded completely through?

My engine was pretty crusty when I took it out of the boat and did a full tear-down and rebuild. Which I probably didn't truly need to do that much, but I did anyhow...

Just wondering if maybe you could save the ol' gal yet....

Valves have rust/corrosion on some of them, camshaft has some rust/corrosion on the lobes, valve tappets have rust on some of the tops and some of the sides, pistons seem to have something on them I'm not sure if it is corrosion or what it is. But I was concerned before and I took the advice of Ken Seigh at Moyer Marine that it was time to look for a better kept engine as I would have to dump a lot of money into this one to get it running. Here is the photo album of things should you want to look at them. https://goo.gl/photos/JsGTUpy2tZVA1F419

The head may be good as it don't appear to have much damage/corrosion to it, flywheel just needs to be cleaned up, perhaps with some of the other things I could find enough parts or a engine that needs love to rebuild one.

Oh sorry - I didn't put the two threads together.... :o

Rock, if you look hard enough something will turn up sooner or later. I picked up a running A-4 for free a few years ago, pulled out of an Ericson 27 that went electric. As I said, it ran but had a missing rod bearing so it knocked like crazy, a deep sickening knock. I tore it down, dropped about $1000 with MMI and a local crankshaft shop and I now have a running spare engine ready to drop in the boat if the need ever arises.

Point being, keep your ears open, beat the bushes and you'll find something.
