DO YOU HAVE AN ELECTRONIC IGNITION?
If you have an electronic ignition and the coil does not have the correct amount of resistance (to little resistance) it can run at a to hot temperature and fail prematurely.

I got so tired of chasing electrical problems that I finally rewired the whole shebang - correctly. Getting rid of the "trailer plugs" was a big help.
