    Solenoid Burned Out

An evaluation of failure of motor start led to the solenoid. After solenoid removal & disassembly (removing the top of the solenoid) we noted that the circuit between the "S" terminal & the battery feed were fried & fused. Has anyone else seen this type of solenoid failure?

Just about anything is possible with these Delco solenoids. They are not worth rebuilding. I get replacements at NAPA. This is a well known starter and the solenoid is probably a stock item. Edit: The solenoid is also available from the Moyer Marine online catalogue. Good idea to have an extra onboard next time you do a Moyer order. I keep a complete starter spare on board ready to install.
