Good day Atomic 4'rs
My (maybe 50 yr old) atomic 4 in my 1964 Columbia 40, is doing weird things, first the choke will only let the engine run when it is half way close/open. When the butterfly is open all the way the engine dies. Got the idle to right position but still I hear all kinds of popping and spitting like the water not flowing through. The engine spitting water between the engine block and manifold. First time that has happen. Compression is low (more or less) from age. Until now engine function fine pushing the boat at 5 knots, (Okay for in/out San Diego Bay). Before this happen I ran the engine once a week, then didn't run engine for a month, when I did the engine was racing at high speed in neutral. Did the wrong thing by backing down the distributor which made the engine spume and spit then shut down. Would be nice if I could import a video with sound for everyone to see and hear, what my problem is. Maybe some one can give advice on how to do that!
