Struggling with hesitation/stalling during acceleration. Runs with choke 1/3 way out. Max power low. Adjusting idle needle valve had no change in engine running.
Seemed to be a carburator problem; took off and cleaned and blew out. No change. Started this season by draining fuel tank, cleaning fuel bowl, changing in-line filter. Drained fuel good, no water, debris, discoloration. No change with new fuel. Thought had to be carburator after reading online discussions so took it off again. Looked pristine, but replaced all but idle jet anyway and cleaned. No change. All plugs seem uniformly black with dry carbon. Compression ranged from 90 to 100 psi, seemed a little low but reasonable. Have now removed and rebuilt mechanical fuel pump; nothing obvious. Did replace sediment bowl with stainless steel from Moyer, ground seat flat. Will put it back on the engine, but am not expecting any change. So, any additional suggestions or other items to check if fuel pump rebuild did not fix?
