If you're heading this way, let me know. If I'm heading your way (again) I'll advise. Perhaps meet half way? If you're heading for Maine, let me know.

I look forward to having a beer with you sometime.
A friend (John Baird) used to have a C&C30. Trucked it from CT to Puget Sound, sailed around Vancouver Island (single handed), then trucked it back to CT. Quite the sailor!

    Hi Mo!
I have the same boat as you and am curious if you have noticed the same head scratcher.

Mine has a deep pit under the mast step. It’s forward of the first keel bolt and lower than my bilge. Curious design if this was original as water must just pool there.

I’m replacing all the wood and am considering glassing the pit.

    Best,

    Ryan

Good to hear Dave. I sent a msg because our morning sun rose "like a red rubber ball" and they said it was caused by smoke from the California fires. Take Care.

Mo, we were fine. I don't text and forgot to respond. Although we have one starting as I'm typing within our view off towards Big Bear.

I'm sure we'll sort it out Dave. If it's mechanical in the gear box it's easy, If the cable is the issue you will need to replace those. I can set that gear box no problem.

    Thanks for the reply Mo!
Thinking back to 2018 when the issue presented itself, it is possible that the boat was put into reverse without first throttling down.
My friend and I did take a look at the cabling and it didn't appear to be the culprit.
As for how the prop looks, I will get down to SWYC this week. I'll give the prop and the cabling a closer look and report back.

    Thanks for your help,
    DC

    Hi there Mo!
My name is Dave Corning; my old man is Jim, who I believe you are acquainted, and our sailboat is the Scimitar, also a C&C 30 MK1, also located at Shearwater.
We currently have little to no reverse on our A4 engine... I believe Jim did have a clutch adjustment performed about 10 years ago.

Do you know of anyone locally (yourself or otherwise) that we could chat with about getting our engine / transmission issue assessed and fixed?
