Greetings, A 1971 Irwin 32 classic has somehow found it's way into my life. I worked as the first apprentice in the mechanical dept at Gulfstar Yachts at the same time(1971) this vessel was under construction.I doubt seriously that I've ever seen a worse rudder installation on any vessel ever! The atomic four installation on it is new to me as we never used them at Gulfstar. The smallest production boat was a 36footer at the time'and I don't think the A-4 would have been adequate. I do like working on the A-4 as I understand the workings of gas engines.fuel,spark,compression,air.Pretty simple actually! I'm Lucky to be a small contortion type person as working on the rear of the engine is through the cockpit locker. I just had an adventure with the raw water pump. Oh,the boat's name is Mermaid, hence mermaidquest. I took the boat up the Homassa river and found some!
