Hey Dan - sorry, just saw this...have to get better at looking at the top corner of the site...

I'm in the Portland, Maine area. Usually she's at Centerboard Yacht Club in South Portland.

I've drained pretty much all the gas out, and separately i rigged up a way to run off new gas (primer bulb, fuel hose dipped into a gallon of new gas with some seafoam...) Still won't start. I have spark. But I'm going to swap out the plugs anyway...htey're pretty gross.

And the big thing this afternoon will be to try to drain out the bottom of the fuel bowl...get any water out.

Hey, welcome to the forum, and to Tartan 30 ownership! They're great boats, and that engine placement is terrific. Easy to work on, takes minimal space, and it puts that big hunk of iron directly in the meddle of the boat on the keel.

Where is your boat located? I'd be happy to answer any questions, I've done a ton of stuff to my T30, and also my daughter's T30.

    Hi Dan!

i finally joined up in the forum...i saw your thread on the A4 rebuild and noted the motor was (is?) in a Tartan 30. I picked up a Tartan last fall end-of-season-ish....upgraded from a Catalina 25 with an outboard.

Sailed the Tartan for a couple of months and a few days before i was to move it off my mooring for the season, the motor stopped running. Pretty sure bad gas, but i didn't get into it over the winter. Starting now.

Anyway, I wanted to connect about the Tartan. And also pick your brain as to how to work on it in the boat...access is different from other boats. The right side of the motor is obviously easy, but i'm having a bear of a time accessing the left side.
